Last Day of My Month

Pkin is recovering from quickly scheduled knee surgery, celebrated yesterday with McDonald's dollar menu burgers. This month is not exactly playing out as planned.

Mom did a really good job helping me enjoy my month. Thank you Mom! Mom's are great that way.

What about commemorating the full 30 days? I could enjoy myself for 8 more days! Pkin will be SO happy! ;-)

The Celebration Continues

We honored MLK Day and continued my birthday month by getting footsie massages.  Boo opted for less foot more back but Mom and I got the full works. 

Have you ever been to an Asian foot spa?

There is no nail polish, there is hot water bathes for your feet and these strange, "lazyboy-like" reclining chairs.  Both Mom and I had more heavy handed masseurs than we really would have liked but we felt great afterwards.

I'd highly recommend it.  I would recommend, also, that the masseurs be more quiet but the cost was wonderful.  With tip and such, three of us got what only two of us could get in a discount massage place where there wouldn't have been a foot bath.

Birthday Month, the Second Weekend

To continue with the month of celebration, I need to set up further birthday-type activities.  I'm open for suggestions. 

Dinners out are standard type fare, and something Pkin and I normally do, so to make it more special, we have to go to "better" places than we normally do.

Receiving gifts is also a birthday activity.  Technically I can give myself gifts, but ... uhm ... others can help.

Special pampering activities are fun too.  A massage might be nice.  A friend told me about a place you can get a $19.99 foot massage that is really a full-body experience.  I need to get the details.

Birthday Month

It's that time again, and boy do I feel old!!!  But I am enjoying the "free" gifts from various vendors. 

Baskin-Robbins is giving me a small cone.  Claim Jumper will buy me an entree.  I know that they are doing more for their bottom line than for my own well-being but I'm still appreciating being remembered.  And that's what birthdays are really all about - being acknowledged.  That's why we celebrate the birthdates of great dead people - to keep their memory alive and to instill their values in our current lives.  That's what I think anyway.

Pkin was raised slightly Jehovah Witness (yes, it's possible,) and he doesn't appreciate the beauty and simplicity of birthdays.  I've been trying to get him to understand but life keeps getting in the way.  This past year, he was recovering from surgery on his big day.  The next big day for him will be his 50th.  That's alot of Pkin years under the bridge.  We'll see what life brings us then.  In the meanwhile, I'll be going to Claim Jumper some time this month.
