It wasn't a milestone one, there wasn't a "5" or a "0" involved, but still a birthday is a special thing. Pkin says he doesn't like the attention; says he's not used to it since his family didn't celebrate his birthday when he was growing up. I understand that his sisters' had parties but I'll not venture any more guesses.
There was a surprise party for Pkin this year - but it turned out that I was the only one surprised. The beans were spilled by one of the guests about Tuesday but Pkin kept it from me; trying to preserve the surprise for at least one person. I was a bit surprised (can't think of another word) when Craig got a call at the restaurant about someone running late; but I wasn't paying too much attention.
About 3/4 of the way through the meal, I was told about how the cat got out of the bag. Apparently the light fell out of my eyes. I was so disappointed, but I've survived and I think that Pkin appreciated the effort all in all. I know he likes his presents!
pkin was like the cat that swallowed the canary.
