Foolishness, Vanity or Perserverence

Mom and I are going to try to enhance our lashes.  You can now medically grow lashes, Brooke does it (will add link.)  For about 100 bucks you can try it at home, see Sephora.  It should arrive on Monday.  Wish me luck.  About half the people say it doesn't work, about a quarter have burning/stinging eyes.  The other half have better, fuller looking lashes and deal with or not burning.

BTW:  Pkin's health prospects are still unknown, so I'll live in denial for a bit longer.

Pkin's In A Bad Way

Pkin never really feels good.  He can add the details, but in summary, he's lived a hard life and has some issues he was just born with.  Today he went to the primary doctor, tomorrow he's going to the neurologist and then back on Monday for a full physical. 

What do you do?  You wait and wait and wait.  I'm going to the neurologist too, to get it "straight from the horse's mouth."  I asked Pkin what the regular doc thought it could be, like worse case scenario stuff.  Pkin doesn't ask questions like that.

Small Changes

I read an email yesterday about how "happiness" at work can derail change efforts.  The gist was that if people are happy with the way things currently are, there is little if any motivation to change.  But if there is pain in the present than change is the thing that people crave most.

I'm not happy with my current health and physical state.  It's finally hurting more to stay the same than it will to change.  My small changes are joining Weight Watchers at work, going to an exercise specialist with little Pkin support (more about this later), and eating a half a bag of M&Ms.  Let's start with the M&Ms, I would have eaten the whole bag, all 240 calories, but I choose to eat less.  One little change can move the ocean, if done over and over again.

The Girls Are Going to Vegas

It's not what you think.  I doubt we'll be at bars, or wearing tramp clothes, but Mom does want a tattoo across her lower back.  She noticed one on an otherwise meek looking young woman.  My sister and I told her that you call a tattoo in that location a "tramp stamp."  This was very fun to her.  She's going to get a rub off one first, and I hope she doesn't get a real one.  Maybe Pkin will chime in.  He has strong tattoo opinions.

Anyway, my sister, Mom and I are going to Vegas for my sister's birthday.  I'm letting them know that I'm going via blog.  "I'm going!"

I want to get some sun on my legs, see a show, and play video poker. 

I'm not telling you when ... you'll just have to be surprised.

"Somebody's Watching Me"

If you're in Hershey Town someone is probably watching you.  The town of Lancaster, PA has more outdoor cameras than most cities, way more, and their crime rate is on the rise.  What is this all about?  Take a look at this article on Switched.

I like my privacy, what if I have to remove a wedgie or adjust my bra strap!?!  I want to do it in the privacy of the sidewalk backed up to a building, like all self-respecting women.  That's my opinion.

Happy Monday

It's the first workday of summer.  The high school by work is on summer school.  The birds are beginning to dive bomb Pkin's peaches (that sounds nasty.)  Mom is on Facebook.  Life is good!

What should I focus on for this new season?

Starbucks

When I go to Starbucks it's only an excuse to get a cranberry scone.  I order the coffee drink so no one will wonder why I'm such a heifer.

Today I ordered my regular, caramel drink without caffeine and with nonfat milk.  It was caffeinated.  It tastes sharp, don't like it.  Plus I'm getting the caffeine buzz that I don't like.  I wrote to Starbucks about my concern, even mentioning that the doctor advised me to limit caffeine, which she did.

Do you think I'll get a coffee drink for free?

Women and Handbags

I love purses.  My Aunt Epie who had interesting taste and an odd shaped body, kinda like me, but way bigger boobs, loved shoes and purses.  Both say so much about a person.  Pkin has blocky shoes and man-sized carrying accessories.  No man purses for him.

Mom and I spent Saturday at the mall, we tried on makeup, bought shoes, saw a movie and glimpsed into the Coach store.

She has a few Coach bags.  I have a few Dooney & Bourke bags.  We both don't like the newer garish styles that both lines are currently hocking.  The most noticeable thing was that Coach had none of their traditional, plain, wonderful bags.  We were in Pasadena, in the more "trendy" of the two major shopping areas, but I was still surprised by the lack of a basic collection of every day handbags.

I have to add that I'm currently carrying a blue satchel in pleather from Marshall's.  It cost about 22 bucks.  I love a simple bag, one color, with minimal hardware if any.  These are not the bags that are currently being advertised. 

So I need a good shoe/handbag repair person.  Do you know of nice Italian-trained, my preference, person near the Burbank, East SF Valley area?

PS:  Coach is having a factory store sale.  The closest store is 60 miles away and I don't need another purse.

Old Age

A friend's mother is online dating, but instead of listing her correct age, 72, she's put that she's 68.  My friend thinks that her mother's "young" age will prevent older man from seeking her out.  Pshaw!  All men want younger, in general.  For every Cher and Demi, there are a 100 Hugh Hefner's and Bruce Willis's.  Right?

As I've mentioned, I'm not happy with this whole aging thing.  I've much prefer to be 27 and silly, I think. 

Would you rather lie about your age and people think you're telling the truth or would you rather say your real age and have people tell you, "you look so much younger?"
