If you aren't planning for the worst than you're just being ignorant. Yes, enjoy your life, enjoy good times, good friends, good food, and whatever else makes you happy that doesn't harm others, but realize that this world is not and will never be the same.
Decapitations are happening less than 300 miles from where I sit now. People are losing good jobs, with formerly solid companies, every day. Institutions that made up the stock market will fall off the big board any second. I pray that there will be a miracle but I can't see one on the horizon.
I remember my Grandmother with rubber bands on her door knobs because you just couldn't afford to waste anything. She'd eat rusted, wilted, almost inedible lettuce because almost is not the same as rotted and you might not know where the next meal is coming from. When I knew her she didn't have to worry but growing up poor and hungry doesn't leave you, even when you're living in a two-story home with two indoor bathrooms and heat.
With a depression looming I wish my survivor grandparents where alive to share with us how they did it. Today we're too soft; it will be tough times. Thank goodness I have some padding; it will last me through some lean times I hope.
