When You Know Famous People

Does that mean you are famous my association?  See info on the famous one. 

Laurie Drew is a knitter and an Instructional designer for Yahoo! She learned to knit because she needed something to counter the mechanics of technology and to relax and move her hands in different ways. An interest escalated to a need when she took a job at the University of Southern California where she worked on film shoots that specialized in "hurry up and wait". At her day job at Yahoo! Laurie teaches and writes instructions for a living, which means that her talents as a knitting teacher are very well honed. She loves teaching sock knitting because there are so many magic "a-ha!" moments in a sock to make her students feel talented and clever.

Loved, Loved, Loved the Oscars

When I was younger I watched the nominated films so as to make an informed prediction of the winners, or to have at least some point of reference.  Now If I see one animated feature length film it probably came out on cable.

I tried to watch all the program yesterday but things got in the way and, silly me, I didn't immediately think of using our expensive DVR monthly service until after the big musical number.  I looked and looked yesterday evening to find it bootlegged on YouTube, but it wasn't there.  Apparently you could see every second of Miley Cyrus airtime but very little of Hugh Jackman and Beyonce swinging and swaying.  Alas my persistence paid off.

It's probably gone by now, all that copyright stuff and all, but for a lovely 6 and one half minutes you could enjoy the spectacle and the grandeur of old Hollywood, when politics was quiet and women were glamorous and men were laconic until they had their top hats on and canes a' twirling.

Still Live and Kicking

Lots of work getting in the way of life.  I did wear "regular shoes" one day last week.  My toes will never be the same as before surgery and I doubt I would have the same doctor cut on my feet in the future.  You live and your learn.

I'm supposed to be in a work health-activity drive but I've misplaced my pedometer so I'm guessing that I'll take 4300 steps today.  That's is what I've been walking in the past week.

And, today is raining like a dog?  Like the god's are having a balloon fight?  Like hell?  Like CA is sinking into the ocean?  You pick it, it's raining.

And lastly, last week Curt Whoever on KTLA said disparaging things about blogs like mine.  It really demotivated me and I haven't enjoyed watching KTLA news since then.  If people what to spend a hundred or so bucks each year to write their mundane thoughts and live experiences then what the f***!?!  I'm not making people read this, if you want to you can and if you never do that's good too.  And my stats show that I'm writing primarily for my own enjoyment.  I may never publish and people will not line up to get my signature or to post a comment here, but it's a hobby.  Curt, you disappointed me!

Life, Stuff and What Not and Pkin's Nose

We all heard loud and clear that Pkin is not going to get up any earlier than he absolutely has to.  Now he's dealing with his bout with skin cancer.  I mentioned previously that his little thing of his nose was basal cell carcinoma.  Yesterday it came off.  Well, the doctor cut it out with a scalpel and tweezers. 

Today Pkin is not amused.  We really did not expect it to be so large.  He has Wolverine-quality healing abilities so I'm very positive it will heal quite nicely. 

Do you think Pkin will become an avid user of sunscreen?
