I heard this from a "friend." About 20 leaders at a company were in a meeting, some were not from the area but all were employees. They were moving from their primary meeting room to another room for a portion of the meeting. They phoned the on-site coordinator in a panic: the secondary meeting room was locked! The coordinator rushed to assist.
The doors opened out and 20 leaders, that is managers and higher, needed about 5 minutes to figure that out. The coordinator found them entering the room; not one apologized.
This is a locked door:
Yes, what is it about leaders that makes them forget how to do the simplest things? I have to create powerpoints, write emails, and forward email for my manager. I think rather than think she is "above" it or too busy, she has honestly lost the ability to fend for herself.
The other day I got a panicked call from some managers here that the projector was not working (why does training always become AV?). My first question was, "is it turned on?"
It was not.
