Well, duh! It's the end of February. If this wasn't Leap Year, we'd already be totally immersed in St. Patrick's Day. The New Year is the OLD year now and all resolutions are a thing of the past.
My aspirations for healthy eating and, therefore, healthy living are long, long gone. Yesterday's dinner was re-heated instant mashed potatoes (now isn't that sad?) and a cheese sandwich. The cheese sandwich was actually kind of nice with fresh Jarlsberg, crisp red leaf lettuce and whole wheat bread. Pkin had white rice and scary chili which he loves. Scary chili is canned chili, with or without beans, that looks scary to me. I don't eat scary chili though in the past I have when it topped hot dogs. My Gramma went through her chili dog phase (it's kind of a long story.) Pkin bought this chili, honestly I can't remember the brand, with "fingers" of meat-like stuff. That was really scary. The chili he has now is less scary and limb-like but still gives me the heeby-jeebies.
As I write about chili, scary and otherwise, and re-heated instant mashed potatoes, I'm really feeling bad about my situation. No wonder Pkin and I are always tired as Poo! That's all we are eating. How can we have a fantastic 2008 when we're putting cr#$$y stuff in our tummies?
The new year may be just the year now but we can still make it a great one. But we will start slow, like with Subway low-fat subs, or something like that. I really don't have a grocery store trip in me today 'cause of the tiredness, you know? It will take a while for the cr#p to work its way through and energy to build. It's one day at a time!
