We used to celebrate the Roman Catholic church Christmas but that lost favor over the years. We now celebrate the one with cookies, tamales, and lighted moving ornaments. I especially like the lighted moving ornaments.
When I was young, and had lots of disposable cash that I should have been saving for now when I'm old and have less of the fungible stuff, I bought a number of lighted, moving, mostly Hallmark Christmas ornaments. The oldest is dated 1989, and it still works. The winter clad woodland creatures are skiing, albeit with a bit more whirr of the tiny tree-light powered engine, around a light candy cane. It's very surreal. If I engaged in mind-altering substances I'm sure one look at my tree and I'd be writing "The Yellow Submarine, Part Deux!"
The best part about a tree is the tinsel. I both am sorry and not that this year I will not be removing any tinsel from kitty litter, if you get my drift. There will be no ornaments falling to the ground amid the scurry of kitty paws. Rosey has not taken to the tree. I thought she might like the tree water but alas pool water is much more to her liking. She's a risk taker you see and a little sap is no comparison to the kidney-zapping strength of chlorine.
Our tree:
I still need to move about some furniture and clean up the mess.
The tree looks beautiful! I got some great ornaments/lights you would probably love. They look like glass balls, but they also are on a light string and they are lit and change color!
I hung them around my window and am easily mesmerized by them.
